If you walk in the rain you get wet. I am wet right now. Not too bad. It wasn't raining hard. I only got a little wet.

A "little" wet.

I wonder what Paul was thinking each time he wrote about the Christian faith being like walking (or even running).

Paul said that we walk by faith not by sight. Can we look ahead just a little?

How about this one:

Romans 8:1 (Amplified Bible) - "THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit."

Walking after the flesh instead of after the Spirit. Like rain or shine.

Walking after the flesh denotes sinful behavior. Can we just get a "little" wet? Just a little sin?

Can we walk after the flesh once in a while and the rest with the Spirit and be OK?

Can you walk in the rain and not get wet?

It appears that Jesus doesn't put up with any waffling back and forth on the sin issue. Paul sure didn't, and Paul got it from Jesus.

For Jesus, our faith needs to always be in Him. It's never "either or", but rather, "this or nothing".

Him or nothing. Light not darkness.

He told the Pharisees that even a little leaven spoils the entire batch of dough.

Until we get the most important priority in life straightened out nothing will operate properly. There will at least always be some unsettled issue with God, always some unfinished business.

If your trying to walk the two paths at the same time you might hold your own a bit until the paths begin to get farther and farther apart from each other. Inevitably you need to commit to one. You will walk after the flesh (sin) or after the Spirit (Life).

One will set you free, one will lead to chains and bondage.
