"To Burn Or Not To Burn", by Pastor Kevin Lynch

It's on. It's off. Apparently it might be on again.

I'm talking about the plans of the Florida pastor to burn 200 copies of the Koran on the ninth anniversary of 9/11 (tomorrow).

This plan has gone as far as the President. It is now considered a matter of national security.

Supposedly this is because the pastor disagreed with the plans to build a mosque in close proximity to Ground Zero in Manhattan.

From what I have read, the imam of that planned mosque has agreed to move it. Furthermore, the pastor supposedly agreed to stop the book burning.

Now it's all up in the air again.

What do I think? I think it's dumb and insensitive. It's as dumb and insensitive as planning a mosque near the site of the worst attack ever upon U.S. soil.

So...change it. Don't do either and everyone goes home happy. Right?

Unfortunately, wrong.

Tomorrow there will be new hatred and bigotry from both sides of any fences between any people. The human race doesn't need any excuses such as burning a book or building a building. The Hatfield's and McCoy's feuded for 25 years over a pig being on the others property.

No, we don't need an excuse to hate. But it helps.

What does God think?

1 Peter 2:17 - "Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king."

God knows who belongs to Him and who the enemy of His people are. He knows and He can handle it. If we actually lived according to His Word things would be more peaceful even for our enemies.

If vengeance is warranted God says He will take care of it.

I'm tired of reading about stupid pastor tricks in or out of the pulpit. The Terry Jones and the Fred Phelps of the world need to be given as little publicity as possible. I don't know about you but they embarrass me.

I'm praying for a Jesus Christ intervention. It's His Church and I hope he deals equitably toward those who are screwin' it up. Souls are weighed in the balance.

Keepin' it Real,

Pastor Kevin <><
