"Do I Really, Really Believe That"? (pt. 4)

Imagine walking around with a 50 pound backpack all day long. I mean 24/7. At first it would be cumbersome and heavy, but eventually you would start to adapt. In fact, you would start to become built up physically so that it would seem like no weight at all.

That's what people who have never confronted their sin are like. After years of carrying it around they simply get used to it. They get into some sort of weird "sin shape" so that they can continue to incrementally add more sin without hardly noticing.

People get so attached to their sinful life and behavior that it seems normal to them. So when eventually they come face to face with the teaching of Jesus Christ and the Word, they flinch. You might as well tell them to stop breathing or eating.

Luke 7:48-49 (AMP) - "(48) And He said to her, Your sins are forgiven! (49) Then those who were at table with Him began to say among themselves, Who is this Who even forgives sins?"

Notice that here, and in other gospel accounts as well, a wonderful act of Jesus is met with anger, disbelief, religious indignity, etc.

Jesus says to you this morning that your sins are forgiven. Technically they have been. He took them upon Himself at the cross. He has done His part. Our part is to accept it.

Who is He? He is God. He is the Beginning and the End. He is the Savior of the world.

Who are you? And what will you do with this today?

Do you really, really believe it?

Keepin' it Real,
